This project is about seasons specifically the colder seasons and how they can make people feel. It initially started with just showcasing the different seasons but as the project went on it transformed into exploring dreams and nightmares and how nature and the seasons around you can have an influence on it.
Inspirations
The main inspirations for this Seasons project have been Victoria Siemer, Stephanie Jung and Ellen Jantzen. Victoria Siemer is a visual artist who creatures surrealist images often by using shapes in her work, I was influenced and started to add circles to represent other seasons in one image. Stephanie Jung is a photographer who often creates quite blurred and layered images which represents how chaotic the world can be. I adapted the layering of her work to represent the way trees move in the autumn season. Ellen Jantzen is a photographer who brings together photography and printmaking, her images are quite surreal and often involve dragging the colour in various directions blending parts of the image together. I adapted this part of her work and exaggerated it to make it the main part of my work so it can have a focus on distortion.
